Downton Abbey’s Lady Fiona Carnarvon joins Gwen Ifill, Michael Kanto and more on Regent Seven Seas

Regent has scheduled an exclusive 12-night sailing with a pre-cruise journey through Highclere Castle, better known as the setting for the Emmy Award-winning “Downton Abbey” on PBS Masterpiece Theater. The tour includes a special lunch and afternoon hosted by best-selling author Lady Fiona Carnarvon, the chatelaine of Highclere Castle.

The Seven Seas Voyager cruise, dubbed the Masters and Tsars itinerary, will sail August 27, 2014 for a 12-night voyage through the Baltic Sea to Stockholm.

Prior to embarkation in Southampton, guests will be offered an assortment of shore tours to various locations featured in different episodes of “Downton Abbey.” The pre-cruise tour is of the charming English countryside via luxury coach, followed by a tour of Basildon Park, the elegant house-setting for the “Downton Abbey” Christmas Day special from 2013.  Guests will enjoy a lavish three-course lunch at The Vineyard restaurant, hosted by Lady Carnarvon who will relate the history of Highclere Castle, the primary setting for “Downton Abbey.”  Lady Carnarvon, who has been on set during much of the filming of the landmark series, will share her personal experiences with the cast and crew.  The afternoon culminates guests receiving an exclusive signing of Lady Carnarvon’s latest book, The New York Times best-seller “Lady Catherine and the Real Downton Abbey.”

During the cruise PBS personalities Gwen Ifill of “Washington Week,” Executive Producer of “American Masters” Michael Kanto,, Tony Award-winning lyricist and director David Zippel, and Tony Award-nominated vocalist and actress Christine Andreas will join guests for the sailing and select shore excursions.
