Carnival Conquest

We live in Kansas so the airfare to new orleans is
what really sold us. We have been on NCL and
Carnival Elation before.
We had a great vacation but we were disapointed
with Carnival this time. We were late leaving port
8:00pmbecause of extensive cleaning being done. We
were given $15pp and a free hour long Mississippi
river cruise as compensation. We really should have
been given $50pp.
our cabin was inside and alot smaller than outsides
but we saved money that way and spent what we saved
on shore excursions. We were pleased with all the
channels we got on the TV. Booking Shore
excursions thru the TV was great. No waiting in
line.
The buffet, Seafood restaurant, chinese restaurant,
and grill were great. As was the 24 hour ice cream
machine!!! The dining room was disapointing. The
same exact menu as the Elation. We never knew our
waiters name and he rarely spoke or was very
friendly. We usually get on with our waiters so
well. We know their names about their families,
etc.

The decks were so windy we rarely went out. The
large pool slide was only open for 2 hours in
Cozumel during the entire cruise, much to the
dissapointment of all the kids on board. To play
basketball, volley ball or ping pong you had to go
down to deck 3 and wait in line at the info desk to
sign out paddles and balls etc. This was very
inconvienent.
We do not get seasick but we were surprised that
such a large ship had so much motion.
Dont do Sting ray city in Grand cayman it is over
crowded and not worth the time. We say lots of
stingrays here but we saw stringrays on our own
snorkeling in Jamiaca and Cozumel too. We took the
prirate cruise in Jamiaca and snorkeled and went to
the very expensive Margariettaville.We also did the
river tubing. This was fun. Beware the driving in
Jamiaca is wild. We did the Fiesta party boat in
Cozumel. We are not big drinkers but beware this
is just a booze cruise. watching people getting
sick and passing out from all the booze is not our
idea of fun.
I met a lady and this was her 9th and last Carnival
cruise. The ship was not that nice for being brand
new. You couldnt use the nice glass elevators in
the atrium because the kids played in them all day
long. Maybe the problems were due to a new ship and
a new crew. I dont know but we will only travel on
Carnival again if the price is a steal.
