Carnival Valor

This evaluation was for the maiden voyage of the Valor on 12-19-2004. While, many aspects of the cruise were quite good, overall our experience leaved much to be desired. But let's start with the positive:
. Inside staterooms that appeared quite spacious
. Generally friendly staff
. Clean and well kept common areas, (ship was commissioned 12-04)
. Very good night time entertainment
. Excellent dinners in the premium steakhouse (for an additional fee)
. 2 good ports of call

On the downside would have to be the overall quality and quantity of the food:
. poor food quality in the main dining room for breakfast and lunches
. cold, average to horrible food in most buffets
. lack of concern for health department rules governing "hot" buffet food
. lack of vegetables with most dinners selections
. disproportionate servings sizes with the dinner entrée's starch and vegetables selection
Overall I rated the Carnival Valor as 2.5 on a scale of 1 to 6 with 6 being the best. I guess we expected good to very good quality of food and in my opinion and many of my cruise mates the overall quality of the food was described as "awful". We would not recommend Carnival Cruise Lines for any future trips.
