Zenith
by Mike Walters
Western Caribbean
November 10, 2005

Our cruise itinerary was supposed to go to Key West and Cozumel, but because of hurricane Wilma we were re-routed to Grand Cayman. My wife and I had a wonderful time on the Zenith (except for one incident I will describe later), and enjoyed the voyage just as much as we would have going to the other destinations. This is our fifth cruise together. We would rate the Zenith above average, but not the best we've been on.

The food was very good, presented in very palatable offerings. We enjoyed every meal, and really can't think of anything wrong with either the menu or the service.

Entertainment was top notch. The shows were very well produced, and the entertainers were some of the best we've seen. We looked forward to them every evening.

Lots of cozy spots on the Zenith for relaxing and enjoying adult beverages. We particularly enjoyed the Piano Bar where, depending on who was playing the piano, it was either very quiet and relaxing or rocking out. We enjoyed both.
We found the staff more than accomadating, except for the incident I alluded to earlier. The first morning, my wife and I slept in a bit (we have 4 children, so THIS was a treat - ahem). So, in a rush to enjoy breakfast, my wife inadvertantly left some of her jewelry on the stateroom vanity. When we returned, it was gone. We are still in communication with Celebrity about this, and it isn't going very well (not returning calls, etc.). Our main complaint was that they keep treating it like we 'lost' the jewelry, when we know exactly where it was and the 30 minute time frame it became missing. They say staterooms are always monitered who goes in and out, but we observed otherwise on MANY occasions. We understand the whole 'not responsible for missing items' thing, but our complaint is that they obviously have a thief onboard and refuse to accept that fact, which is disturbing. So, lesson learned: Wear it or use the safe, no matter how much of a rush you're in. Bottom line, we refused to let this incident ruin our trip; however, even though this could have happened on any cruise line, we will think long and hard about using Celebrity again.
