Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Majesty
by Wauhob3@aol.com
Southern Caribbean
March, 2001

We sailed on the Majesty on the exotic southern itinerary. We had a wonderful time. At first we missed the atrium feel of the last ship we were on but the teak wood and decor was pleasant.

We had an inside stateroom it was efficient but tiny it was only 108 square feet including the bathroom. The entertainment was very good. It seemed a little more sophisticated then RCCL shows. However, we made sure to get to the shows early to get good seats because they are columns that cause sight obstructions.

We enjoyed the freestyling dining it was nice to decide when you wanted to eat and where. They would seat people with whoever came in at the same time. We had met a lot of interesting people. You could request a table for two which we did a couple of the nights. We tried all the restaurants and they were all good. You don't get to know your waiter because every night we changed dining rooms the service was still good. We never ate at the buffet in the evening, only for breakfast. At breakfast they have cooks making omelets to order at the buffet. The breakfast was too slow in the dining room if you want to get off the ship as quickly as possible in port.

The only excursion we took was St. Lucia land and sea tour which I think is the best way to see the island. Taxi tours would be very expensive on this island since the main sights are far away. We were shocked to find out my husband wasn't allowed to take a snorkel excursion to Buck Island because he is a diabetic. I can't imagine why snorkeling would be dangerous to a diabetic so we had to do it on our own and couldn't go to Buck Island because the ship didn't get there in time to make the private excursions. They leave from the other side of the island. We docked at every island so we never had to use tenders which saved time. They leave port at 5:00 p.m. every night. We wrote on the comment card they should leave later at least no earlier than 7:00 p.m. these islands are so close together they could easily leave later.
