Norwegian Crown returned to the NCL fleet in September 2003. She underwent a major refit in preparation for her move to NCL including the addition of three restaurants - Le Bistro, an Italian pasta cafe and a covered al fresco dining cafe. A children's activity area, state-of-the-art fitness center and a number of cabins were added while the spa and casino were expanded.

Norwegian Crown has a history of changing names. Originally built for Royal Cruise Line in 1988 as the Crown Odyssey, she sailed for NCL as the Norwegian Crown from March, 1996 to May, 2000. She sailed again as Crown Odyssey for the Orient Lines fleet until September 15, 2003 when she returned to NCL as the Norwegian Crown.
