NOW is the time to BOOK to come to Europe with CruiseMates
Written by: Kuki
As recently as two weeks ago I wrote a blog about whether it’s preferable to book your cruises early, or wait and book closer to sailing date. At the time, as I did random checks of pricing on a wide variety of ships sailing more than six months into the future, I was finding pricing that I considered quite high. And at the same time I was seeing prices on close in sailings dropping to dramatically low prices. These samplings lead me to believe I should advise people to hold off on booking cruises until much closer to their sailing dates.
Suddenly, as the calendar changed to January, and the start of a new year, there’s been a rush by the cruise lines to adjust their prices to much lower levels than I’d been able to find just a month or so earlier.
I assume these quick price reductions, and sales from the cruise lines, are a result of the continuous bad economic news that’s been streaming at us on our television sets and radios 24/7. While everyone suffers along with the thoughts of economic uncertainty, the cruise lines are no different. Their long term diagnosis for their industry has obviously told them it is necessary to stimulate their own business with some fairly dramatic sales and price reductions.
One quite stunning example of this change in direction is on a sailing on the Ruby Princess which, months ago, we had chosen to make a CruiseMates Group Cruise. Frankly, considering it’s an 18 day cruise, with a marvellous itinerary, I felt the initial prices for this group cruise were quite good, and that’s why we chose it.
Then, suddenly this past week, the travel agent handling this group for us became aware of the new pricing on this trip, and immediately called me. I thought it was an excellent deal originally, but now, with price reductions of up to $1000 + per person I think it’s a not to be missed opportunity, and that’s why I thought I should share it with you in my weekly blog.
So, below you’ll find all the details, along with showing the “previous pricing” and the new present promotion.
