I always tip the Counselors at Camp Carnival. They really earn their money. With regard to bringing water or soda on the ship, as long as you check it, I don't foresee a problem. To me it just wasn't worth the hassle as we had packed four peoples stuff for a 10 day trip and I did not want to carry one more thing honestly. For $1.75 I can have a can of soda. Also one thing on the Triumph that I have never seen on a ship is there were soda and ice machines just down from our cabin on the Empress deck. There is always water available in the dining room and at the buffets. I would just bring a sport drink bottle and fill it up. But if you don't mind hauling the water and soda, I don't think you'll have any problems. Lots of people do it and as long as you don't got overboard about it, I am sure it will be oK.
