We buy commuter mugs the minute the ship's stores open, then carry them around all week, since we love HOT coffee. Have nothing but those in cabinets at home now. I have also bought watches that I do still wear and even some art work. One I totally regret, one I'm so-so about and two I still love. But, mostly I buy local handicrafts in ports. Can't always find what I like, but love the things I do have. Mostly wood carvings, occasionally baskets, even a real feather duster that wasn't even for sale. The "shop" owner was using it to dust and I got her to sell it to me, fairly cheaply. Don't shop for valuable items, just ones I can afford that give me pleasure back at home.
