You always have room to negotiate ... or your travel agent to do so on your behalf ... but the bottom line is that the cruise lines don't have all that many staterooms that are handicapped accessible, and when you book one, you always run the risk of losing it to someone who truly needs it.
I would just make your preferences known and hope for the best. My curiosity is why you just didn't book your preferred stateroom and location in the first place ... in a regular, non-handicapped cabin?
