Once north of Aamori in Northern Japan it was pretty chilly, but not wintry cold (we were there in April.) Even In Kodiak Alaska it was not too cold -- just light jackets and sweaters. I know a month earlier it was pretty cold even in Beijing. The Bering Sea was not as rough as we had expected it to be.
Plan to spend at least two full days in Hong Kong. Ride the Star Ferry to Kowloon and take the evening Harbor cruise and go to the Jumbo Sea Food restaurant at night, the skyline is stunning!!
The Conrad in Hong Kong is a truly great hotel with a great location, but there are many.
On the tours in the different ports, all I can say there, is to study them carefully and pick out what you want. Don't know your itinerary.
But do not omit:
The two day tour at Beijing that includes the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, overnight in Beijing The great Wall, and the approach to the Ming Tombs.
If you do Busan Korea, the fish market.
If Nagasaki, the Peace Park and Atomic Bomb museum
Many sights in Osaka, including, the sake district, the holy city of Nara (largest Bronze Buddha, 2nd largest Shinto Shrine,) great aquarium at dock.
Multiple cultural and historic tours tours in Tokyo, but do the Ginza on your own for strolling, lunch and shopping. If you get a chance see the Tokyo fish market. the world's largest where blue-fin tuna sometimes sell for $30,000 apiece!
Landlocked in Denver, but cruisin every chance we get.
