I think she eventually became the Fair Princess, but on her Christmas cruise from Port Everglades in 1983, she was the Sitmar Fairwind. Her sister was the Fairsea. We had Captain Tringale on this cruise; on our first Fairwind cruise a couple years earlier, we sailed with Captain Lagomarsini.
It was quite unfair of me to call her a "Tub," because in her time Sitmar had some of the finest service available in cruising. After Princess bought Sitmar, the world changed, and not entirely for the better.
At that time there was something called the "Christmas Boat Parade" in Fort Lauderdale harbor, and it coincided with our sailing. That's why the boats are all dressed up with lights.
