I hope it is not looking sternwards, that would be a very odd cabin indeed. I assume you mean a Stern cabin looking aft or at where you have been.

I would not rely on the ship library but rather bring your own reading material.
The lighting seemed ok to me but then I was not trying to read at night in the cabin either. Actually I listen to books sitting on the balcony looking out to see.
