In Alaska things like food and hotels are more expensive than normal prices. IMHO, tours offered by the cruise lines are expensive, but some are well worth the money. I enjoy planning my own tours and taking day tours at my own pace, but then again that's just me.

So I guess what I am saying is that Alaska can be expensive, but it does not have to be. I have seen passengers who book two and three tours every day they are in port, but since I do tend to travel on a limited budget and I have been to Alaska several times I tend to just sit back and enjoy the best part of Alaska, which is the pure beauty.
