The pier is one of the longest I have ever seen. The ship docks about two hundred yards from a duty free area that has stores, bars and food. There is a free shuttle bus system that takes you from that area to town. The shuttles run constantly. Once in town you are dropped by an open air market with fairly aggressive vendors. From there you basically have two choices, turn left and walk toward the beach or right and head toward town.
The beach is okay, but the water is murky. There are shops and eating places all over this area. If you go toward town, there are shops where the locals go. There is even a large department store, and a "farmers" market which is something to see, and smell.
