One thing I haven't seen mentioned is a travel purse for women. When you are on ship, you don't need much and I saw many women lugging around their bags they use on land. I have a cross body bag I bought at Target that is just big enough to hold my cruise card, passport, ship map, a tube of lipstick, an iPod, and a paperback. Safer than jamming your cruise card in your pocket and while the lanyards are handy, they can ruin the look of a carefully planned dinner outfit.
