Just "browsing" and thought I'd put in my two cents about hotels in San Pedro. We've stayed at both the Crowne Plaza:

and the Doubletree Marina:

They're both very nice, but we prefered the Crowne Plaza. We had a room overlooking the port and the view was incredible with three ships in port
! It's also walking distance to shops and restaurants. The restaurant (and bar) in the hotel was good, too.
The Doubletree is further from the port and has nice views of a marina. Their restaurant was good too, but I felt it was overpriced.
They both offer cruise parking and a shuttle from LAX to the hotel (about $15.00 pp). I
think they both also offered a special cruiser's package, but I don't remember for sure
