That arguement works for some lines, however Princess and HAL both allow smoking in staterooms.

I have always been a courteous neighbor. Once I had smoking neighbors on both sides of me, but it was not a problem, as I would step inside for 10 minutes while they had their smoke. This last cruise was very different,as unfortunately, my neighbor was a chain smoker, and it seemed he never left his balcony. So we paid several hundred dollars extra in cruise fare for a balcony we could not use.
