I am also the kind of person to approach strangers and ask if I can help them - like if I see someone reading a map I will ask if they need help.

There are times when I get a reaction as if I was trying to scam them out of something, even though I was just trying to be helpful. I have to say it always surprises me - even though I should know better by now.

Cruises are supposed to be social gatherings where people talk freely to one another - like a banquet. So, I encourage people not to act mistrusting when they are approached by friendly strangers on cruise ships (and I am not referring to strange men trying to buy your underage daughter drinks).

I mean in most cases mature people on ships are more than happy to help, and they enjoy interacting with new people. It is part of the cruise experience.
