I think saving one for your spouse is perfectly OK, even 4 if you are with another couple. As for more than that, not a good idea. Have seen it done many times before and it is just not fair to the people looking for seats and someone is saving a row. You can easily meet before walking into the theater and grab seats together. Once the show starts, its not like you can sit there and talk about your day, etc. anyway.
