As I was setting my upgrade preferences under the new C&A program ... I realized I do have a preference (and one that was not covered under the scenarios offered).
I like a mid-ship cabin. I don't want to be forward or aft. I don't care if I'm up or I'm down ..... but I want to be mid-ship. So, I didn't tick of "upgrade me" or "upgrade me under the following circumstances" because staying midship was not one of the options.
I wouldn't take an upgrade if they moved me to one end of the ship.
I find it curious that so many of you refer to it as "upgrades". To me an upgrade is something you get for free, not something you pay for. If they wanted to upgrade me to a balcony for free, I'd take it. If they wanted to upgrade me for an extra $/pp - I would decline, even if it was at a discounted rate. I'm thinking hotels and car rentals upgrade you for free, cruise lines should too.
