Elegance is the term m'dear.. elegance.
Some ladies overdo things & look like a Xmas tree, men also miss the formal point & wear too many multicoloured things. On the cruises I have been on kids just wear SMART casual clothes but of course they look cute in little suits & seem to enjoy it too. I do wonder if those who refuse to join in the dress themes ever feel embarrassed when they enter a magnificent MDR.
