Sorry, nothing beats a Japanese car. Nissan, Honda, Acura, Lexus etc. North American and British Cars really are cheap and non reliable.
Having said that, we should be very careful buying Chinese goods. The dollar stores are flooded with cheap stuff, it looks like a bargain but could be full of stuff we don't know what it is going to do to us or the environment.
Unfortunately, unions have made an impact on the British and US markets. In their Hay Day they have gained good working conditions and salaries and benefits for their members but we are all now paying the price, in demanding these things they have given the advantage to China and India for production of cheaper items.
It's a shame that US and UK have to compete,( which really they cannot) and in the unemployment and recession plagued times that we live in , unfortunately people are looking for the cheapest and biggest "bang for the buck" they can find.
I don't know what the alternative is!!
