Hello Azamara Followers,
I noticed today that the HOT TOPIC on the Message Board concerned a cruise line’s decision to ban smoking in cabins and on the balcony.
I think it’s important to let you all know that Azamara Club Cruises enforces a very strict smoking policy which prohibits smoking inside any guest stateroom or any guest veranda:
“Smoking is not permitted except in two designated areas onboard Azamara Journey® and Azamara Quest®. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco.
Smoking is not permitted inside any guest stateroom; or on any guest veranda. If a guest is in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass account and the guest may be subject to further action pursuant to the “Consequences Section” of these Guest Interaction Standards.”
In fact, the World Health Organization has reported that “the risks associated with the exposure to second hand smoke are well documented. A growing number of countries are now implementing restrictions on smoking in public places such as restaurants and transport facilities. … The most obvious benefit of these restrictions is to nonsmokers, who are spared exposure to the health risks and nuisance of environmental tobacco smoke. A second effect of smoking restrictions is that they reduce some smokers' consumption of cigarettes and induce some to quit.”
Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you aboard for an Azamara “smoke-free” cruise vacation.
