Is there such a "routine" proceedure? HIPAA protects most US empolyees from discrimination based on protected health information, but a requirement to "lift 70lbs" could still be a job requirement. For companies outside of the US I imagine it would vary wildly from one employer to another as to how they made some of their hiring decisions.
