In two instances, I have been carded so to speak when I tried to get back on ship - once it occured in Puerto Rico and the second time in St. Thomas. I had my ship pass but I didn't have photo id. It was a minor delay situation.
I did get back on the ship okay, but you might want to keep my experience in mind.
