I too would like to see the "TIP" just added into the cruise fare.
Personally, I believe tipping is wrong. If a person is paid a fair wage to do a job, then why does that person deserve more money for just doing what they are supposed to do?
I understand that the crew members are paid low wages and yes I do pay tips on the cruise ship, even go above and beyond if excellent service is given. This, however does not mean I like it and wouldn't mind seeing these poor souls paid a decent wage.
When I was young 10% used to be a normal tip. Who is the one who suggested 15%? If I eat at a restaurant and I see a automatic gratuity added to my bill, I insist they take it off or I do not pay the bill. If and when I tip, I want to do it on my terms, not be forced to do it no matter how good the service is. I also want to make sure the waiter or waitress, the one who really needs it, gets the tip.
