You have described the NHS system as it operates in England and Wales. I can only say we operate the NHS differently in Scotland.

So back to your OP, if 'poor' in US is defined as having an annual income of less than $22K and if you are younger than 65, how much would your Annual Healthcare premium be?

FYI I could purchase full private coverage I think for $2K per annum; I am 60 next birthday.
