We rented a cabana at the pool at Royal Palms in March. Already have plans to go there again on our 2013 cruise. Was definitely not crowded (even w/ 4 ships in port!), you're steps from the beach if you want, plus you have wait staff at your beck and call for food and drinks. If Carlie is your server, she is absolutely wonderful.

They just changed how they book the cabanas - now it's $50 for the cabana and $50 minimum spend (when we booked it was just the minimum spend). Food and drinks are pretty pricey in Cayman, so the minimum spend is no issue. Even with the $50 rental, we're pretty sure we're doing it again. Like you my husband needs shade and was wonderful to have the pool right there in addition to the beach.
