I know that HAL is an older crowd and this is fine with us, we like to relax and prefer the traditional cruise experience.

Does HAL still offer the "traditional"? Are there really formal nights? Do men where tuxes?

The Ryndam is older, Do they have a descent gym and spa? Are there steam room and locker room? Are they free? There is a relaxation area, cost?

HAL is now owned by Carnival . Does HAL still have good service?

Are there old fashioned "midnight Buffets?"

Is the entertainment good? Thanks, Jimbo
I have cruised on HAL 4 times in the past 4 years .Its my favorite cruise line . I was on the Volendam ,Zuiderdam and twice on the Veendam.
There are 2 formal nights on a 7 day cruise and 3 on a 10 day .
Service was fantastic as was the food .No midnight buffets but they had 10PM to 11PM chocolate extravaganzas ,
