Enforce the dress code at the entry to the dining room and advise that there are many other options for dinner on any night.A couple of years ago I ran a survey on Holland reference formal nights and the result was some 80% enjoyed the occasion. As you might guess the women even more than the men.In my observation is that the atmosphere on formal nights is much more elegant and only adds to the the total cruise experience. Have also noticed this on Celebrity as well.Almost all cruise lines have gone more casual to follow the desires of many however they have kept the formal nites even though less dressy than in the past . I can remember on Holland when we dressed every night in suit or formal with orchestra above the dining room and much of your meal was prepared table side. Will never see this again and certainly will be missed by many of us.
