Rollerdonna, you should "come to Virginia Beach". Not only do you have the "beach" but you are about an hour away from Williamsburg, where they have a rebuilt historic area. Then too, you have the outlet malls, day cruises in Norfolk, the Boardwalk Art Show every Father's Day Weekend, the Chrysler Center and the MacArthur Center. There are several timeshare places that you can rent for one week that are located along the beach. (check with Resorts Condominium International or Interval Ownership). It is sad that many tourists pay upwards of $200 a night in the summer when they can rent a timeshare unit for several days more for not much more money.
