We're from Canada and I did a lot of reading before our first cruise about this. Tipping people like this in the US seems to be more common than in Canada. We mostly tip at restaurants here and that's about it. It is easier in the US too though because you still have $1 bills. If staff like this in Canada were receiving $1 and $2 tips like this all the time they'd all have back problems from all the $1 and $2 coins they would have in their pockets !

When we started back in 2006, all I read seems to indicate that $1 per bag was customary in the US. I usually go $1 per bag +$1 just to make it a bit better. Is this still the customary tip amount?
