When it's just the two of us traveling, we like a table for 6 so we can get to meet some new friends. Round tables of 8 or more are often too big and it's tough to carry on conversations with anyone other than those directly next to you.
If we're traveling with friends and family, then we like to sit and eat with them because often we don't get to spend too much time with them during the day since everybody is usually off doing their own thing and dinner is the only time we get to visit.
