I'm surprised your agent couldn't/wouldn't help you with this.

With that said, anywhere from around the airport to the pier is fine - nothing is too far away from the pier that it costs all that much for taxis (roughly $12 maximum).

There are some nice hotels either by the airport, by the pier, or on the beach, depends on what you're looking for, how many people are going, and how much you're willing to pay.

What I suggest is to go to and use that as a research guide to get you started. Then once you have a hotel in mind, go to the hotel's corporate website to see what their rates are and then contact the hotel directly and see what they're charging. Often you'll get different rates depending on where you're looking, so it's good to check more than one way to book it. Make sure to ask about AAA or AARP discounts, if you have those available to you.
