You might want to check out Hawaii. I don't think they have any large lizards there like the iguanas you find in Mexico and some of the carribbean islands. Maybe some tiny ones that you wouldn't be likely to come into contact with on a typical beach or excursion. Stay away from rocky areas which makes a good habitat.
