Depends on the ship and the last time it was refurbished or the beds have been changed out. Our last cruise on the Grandeur, which had just been completely renovated, except for the beds, we had a bed that was completely concaved, it was so used. And you're right, even the egg crate did absolutely no good. But we've sailed on several Princess and many RCCL ships, and have found them to be overall very comparable, which is why we much prefer Holland America beds.
