Hi again, although we have never stayed or eaten there, Katrina is aware of the hotel & says that it has a good reputation, especially for the food.
It's location is also excellent as it is a very short stroll from there into the city centre, and well positioned for the various cruise terminals.
In the centre of the town is the Dolphin Hotel (now part of the Mercure group) which has plenty of history & a good reputation, so may be worth a look as an alternative if the the Pig in the Wall is fully booked.
Mercure Southampton Centre DOLPHIN HOTEL, Mercure hotel Southampton, The Dophin hotels on the south coast Southampton, and is one of the historic hotels in Southampton near the Docks with meeting rooms
Then of course there are all the chain hotels, which are perfectly functional, but more business focussed than pleasure.
