US Coast Guard and all the insurance companies that insure cruise ships claim that the self service laundries are fire hazards. Many ships built since 2005 no longer have them.
The US Center for Disease Control claims that self service laundries are a major source of cross contamination for Norwalk Virus.
Ships that have self-service laundries have a higher number of outbreaks than ships that do not have them.
HAL is currently phasing out the self service laundries that they still have on their older ships.
Good luck.
