Just to some it up - FANTASTIC!!

We were unlucky with the weather for the first three days, but the ship more than made up for it. It was my first experience of 6 star cruising and I can now say I'm addicted. The service was faultless, the ship doesn't WOW you as it just classy and elegant. The suites are fabulous and I have never eaten finer food (they even have the nerve to serve Marcaroni Fois Gras!!!!!!).

On big tip however, in the ports of Thessaloniki and Volos I do advise doing a tour. Volos is the port for the monastaries at Meteora. Thessaloniki has more options like the ruins of Dion or the Royal Tombs at Verginia. The ports themselves were dull and uninteresting.

If you can fly in to Istanbul early it is worth it. Sights such as the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace are stunning.

Rhodes Town is one of my favourite ports in the Med. If you don't do a tour here you can have a very pleasant walk around the walled town. We sailed from Rhodes at 11pm so the ship arranged a top deck barbeque with local Greek dancers as entertainment.

Patmos was quaint. The ship tenders into the port of Skala which again is pleasant to walk around, but the main attraction is the Monastery in the main town of Xhora. This is where St.John wrote the Book of Revelations. If you don't take a tour through the cruise line then it is only a few Euros by taxi, but the monastery closes between 1.30 and 4.00 so make sure you time it right.

On the sea day between Volos and Rhodes we sailed close to Mykonos, Naxos and the holy island of Delios.

Overall the ports we heavy on the mythology and religion of both ancient and modern Greece, but I found the ship experience the best experience of the week and I am looking forward to the next Silversea cruise!!!
