Default Easy Cruise Update

EasyCruise sets Caribbean course (06/13/2005)

Look for EasyCruise to come to a Caribbean island near you.

Company CEO Stelios Haji-Ioannou is planning a mid-June visit to Barbados to negotiate berthing rights for the EasyCruiseOne, which the company envisions would offer seven-day cruises to nearby islands between November and April.

EasyCruise laid out a tentative Caribbean schedule in a statement last week: St. Lucia; Martinique; St. Vincent and the Grenadines; and Grenada.

“With the exception of St. Vincent, all islands have nonstop flights from either London or Paris and/or New York,” EasyCruise said, making a reference to its hop-on, hop-off model. The EasyCruiseOne currently is offering Mediterranean sailings where passengers book on a per-day basis and can spend a minimum of two nights onboard.

The line also said Haji-Ioannou was “making plans” to add a second ship to the fleet for Greek islands cruises.

With the ship in its second month of operation, EasyCruise said Americans make up the second-largest group of passengers. The line said it “remains very encouraged” by the level of bookings for the summer season, although it did not release occupancy figures.

U.S. travelers can book in U.S. dollars on Easycruise.com. There currently is not a separ-ate link for U.S. agents, but a spokesman said EasyCruise would likely respond “to an offer from a relevant U.S. agent.”
