On the Norwegian Dream last year (Baltic), we were amazed and delighted that they featured an American classical pianist one evening in the main theater. We were totally unprepared for the quality of his playing and the variety of his repertoire. Everything from Tchaikovsky and Grieg to Gershwin to Phantom of the Opera to the Beatles.
The audience loved it so much that NCL had to bring him back on another evening to reprise his performance. The pianist, whose name is Michael Chio, was simply great! Why can't we see more of this type of entertainment to go with the many mundane acts we see on cruise ships? We could certainly use a touch of the highbrow to even the playing field IMO.
