Great choice! I'm a single Mom, and my son and I took our first cruise over New Year's 2001-2002. It was fabulous, we loved it so much we're booked on our second cruise over spring break in 3 weeks on the Pride. The Camp Carnival program is great, my son (now 9) was begging to go back after his first afternoon. I'd have some time on my own to do the art auctions, check out the shops, lay in the sun and read a good book or people watch, etc. Also, the camp program is open until 10:00 p.m. for free, and after that there is an hourly charge, and the kids have a great movie time/slumber party. My son went New Year's Eve so I could celebrate with new found friends. There's usually some sort of singles party at the start of the cruise to get to know other singles. Then you get family time on shore tours, and Camp Carnival also has family games (such as scavenger hunts) during days at sea. All in all, its the best of both worlds. Have a great cruise!
