You mentioned Sun/Dawn?? Those are NCL ships, not HAL. I was on the Veendam in September to Alaska -- didn't notice any jeans at night. NCL is more casual than HAL. But HAL does have larger standard rooms than others. I was in an outside cabin, but the bed is under the window and the window is high enough that one couldn't see out (except the sky) sitting in a chair.
