we have a tax called GST it is 7% so a good rule of thumb is double the gst amount for the tip for the waiter and waitress.
I have never tip the hotel staff that cleans my room if I only stay one night.
Tip what you feel the waiter or waitress serving you deserves. They do make a wage here but it is a lot less then a person in a store would make, they do live off their tips.
