I'm the type that looks at it as if I receive anything above my paycheck as a pretty good deal. It's more than I had before.
We decided to give out Year End bonuses at my last company and some folks were furious because they were taxed on the bonus. I had five people yelling at me because of it. I politely told them I had no control over Uncle Sam and even with the W-2 withholdings it was more money than they had before and Happy Holidays. One person tried to make a point by placing the check back on my desk. It was a moot point because it was a direct deposit receipt.
I guess you can't win in some situations.
