While credit cards are widely accepted, you might want to notify your credit card company if you intend to make larger purchases (like jewelry) If the cc company notices activity in an area not commonly used by the cardholder and if there are large purchases, they can put a stop on your card. Also be sure that your travel insurance covers identity theft.

Not trying to be alarming, just some things to be aware of. Better safe than sorry.
