i pack much the same way that Ed mentioned.
I am the designated packer, i don't mind, that way i know that everyone will have enough clothes, and they will match
The "good clothes" go into the garment bag, hung up with dry cleaner's bags.
Underwear & socks get squished into zip bags.
I make lists.
