It depends. I always thought balconies were THE only way. However having a non-stop cigar smoking neighbor on the Jewel last week we decided our next cruise would be oceanview. This was our 3rd cruise and each time we've had to deal with cigarette/cigar smoke so in my case it's not worth it. (I have asthma and respiratory issues).
