its the real thing for us also, we fresh cut ours. It must be a Fraiser Fur as that is the only one that doesn't cause my allergies to go crazy. I do have to decorate it wearing surgical gloves as the needles do make my hands itch. Frasier Furs also don't shed a lot of needles.
